CBIT Services

CBIT typically involves 8–10 weekly sessions, each lasting 45–60 minutes. The program is structured but flexible, allowing treatment to be tailored to individual needs.

The first session is a comprehensive 90-minute evaluation focused on learning about you, your tics, and your goals. Early sessions focus on understanding your specific tics and triggers, while later sessions introduce awareness training and individualized behavioral strategies. Each session also includes relaxation and stress management techniques.

Weekly homework and consistent practice between sessions are an essential part of making progress toward your goals. Optional follow-up “booster” sessions are available after completing the program.

Who I work with

CBIT can be effective for children as young as 5 in some cases; however, I primarily work with children ages 9 and older, adolescents, and adults. I may consider younger children on a case-by-case basis. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your child’s needs.

What to expect when working with me

Working with me is a collaborative and supportive process focused on helping you or your child feel understood, supported, and better equipped to make meaningful changes in daily life. Each plan is individualized and built around goals that matter most—whether that’s reducing the impact of tics, managing anxiety, or navigating daily routines with greater ease.

I use an evidence-based CBIT approach delivered in a practical and supportive way. Sessions are structured yet flexible and encouraging. For children and teens, parents are actively involved so progress continues between sessions. My goal is to make each session focused, helpful, and meaningful.

  • Anna is delightful, highly capable, and compassionate.

As someone who has lived with tics all my life (for six decades) I was grateful to have someone in our area who could help. What a pleasant surprise; Anna is delightful, highly capable, and compassionate. Her sessions have been very useful in illuminating the nature of my own personal tics, as well as breaking them down into more manageable pieces and being more aware of the urges so I can prevent the muscle contractions before they get out of hand.

Anna’s knowledge base is considerable, both as a practitioner and as a parent of little ones suffering from the same problem. No doubt she has good strategies for helping children and parents in providing the best outcomes possible. She is always prompt in returning calls, texts, or emails, and sends links to helpful literature. I appreciated very much the session synopsis I promptly received each week that was highly useful in working with the homework I was given.  I give Anna a high recommendation. It’s great to find someone who understands and more importantly, who cares.

Services and Sessions

Your First Session

Your first session is a thorough evaluation where I get to know you and your tics. We will discuss your history, goals, challenges, and daily routines, and identify which strategies will be most practical and helpful. This evaluation helps us collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan.

Individual CBIT Sessions

CBIT sessions are 45–60 minutes long. During these sessions, you will learn strategies to reduce the impact tics have on daily life, practice new skills, and make small, consistent changes to support your goals. Sessions are customized to your age, unique needs, and lifestyle.

Booster Session

This 60-minute follow-up session is available 1–2 months after you finish your CBIT program. The purpose of this optional session is to review progress, problem-solve any challenges, adjust strategies as needed, and reinforce skills to support long-term tic management.
