CBIT Services
CBIT typically involves 8–10 weekly sessions, each lasting 45–60 minutes. The program is structured but flexible, allowing treatment to be adjusted to individual needs. There’s no cookie-cutter approach.
The first session is a 75-90-minute evaluation focused on learning about you, your tics, and your goals. Early sessions focus on understanding your specific tics and triggers, while later sessions introduce awareness training and individualized behavioral strategies. Each session also includes relaxation and stress-management techniques.
Weekly homework and consistent practice between sessions are an essential part of making progress toward your goals. Optional follow-up “booster” sessions are available after completing the program.
Who I work with
CBIT can be effective for children as young as 5 in some cases; however, I primarily work with children ages 9 and older, adolescents, and adults. I may consider younger children on a case-by-case basis. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your child’s needs.
What to expect when working with me
Working with me is a collaborative process focused on helping you or your child feel understood, supported, and more confident in managing everyday challenges. Each plan is built around the individual and the goals that matter most—whether that means reducing the impact of tics, managing anxiety, or making daily routines feel a little easier.
I use an evidence-based CBIT approach delivered in a practical yet dynamic way. Sessions are structured yet flexible — I strive to meet clients where they’re at. For children and teens, parents are actively involved so progress continues between sessions. My goal is to make each session occupation-focused, helpful, and fun too!
Services and Sessions
Your First Session
Your first session is a thorough evaluation where I get to know you and your tics. We will discuss your history, goals, challenges, and daily routines, and identify which strategies will be most practical and helpful. This evaluation helps us collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan.
Individual CBIT Sessions
CBIT sessions are 45–60 minutes long. During these sessions, you will learn strategies to reduce the impact tics have on daily life, practice new skills, and make small, consistent changes to support your goals. Sessions are customized to your age, unique needs, and lifestyle.
Booster Session
This 60-minute follow-up session is available 1–2 months after you finish your CBIT program. The purpose of this optional session is to review progress, problem-solve any challenges, adjust strategies as needed, and reinforce skills to support long-term tic management.
